Assalam-u-alaikum Dear Delegates,
I welcome you all to the first campaign of BUMUN (Bahria University Model United Nations). It has been a hard ride till now, bringing something new that has never happened in Bahria University before has always been a risk worth taking. And with the grace of ALLAH Almighty i delivered the best possible I can to make it a reality. My MUN career has been short but an amazing one. Representing a country, researching about its different aspects and trying to be a diplomat has always been an amusing yet learning experience. I always wanted other people to take in the essence of an MUN as well. This urge brought me into introducing MUN in Bahria University Karachi Campus. After all the hustle and bustle finally I see you people enjoying this event at fullest.

While approaching me you need to think of two things only, he is a human not a cannibal (so don't be afraid to ask anything) and he is more strict than he seems so DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT favoritism or biasness.
My main motto is simple and brief, " Research till your satisfied, Enjoy till your dead ".
Happy MUNning people.
Take Care.

"Committee Chairs"

DISEC:
Husam Khalid
Hey everyone! I am Husam Khalid and I’ll be the committee chair for Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) at the first ever Intra-University Bahria Model United Nations (BUMUN-2012). I am doing majors in finance and I’ll be graduating at the end of the current semester (fingers crossed).
As far as Model United Nations is concerned, my love affair began in 2006 when I had the chance to represent my college at LUMS Model United Nations (LUMUN 2006). That was the beginning of a beautiful experience and I have been hooked on to it ever since.
I believe that Model United Nations (MUN) is a great way to learn about world affairs, parliamentary style debates and building confidence which will be helpful at every stage of life. For me MUNs served as a way to groom my personality. I hope that it does the same for you all. See you in March 2012. Happy MUNning.
Best Regards,
Husam Khalid.

ECOSOC:
Maria Farooqui
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you all to the Economic and Social Committee of BUMUN’12. I am Maria Farooqui and I am more than thrilled to have the privilege of Chairing ECOSOC in this intra university MUN. I was completely unaware of the exciting world of MUN before my third semester but then MUNIK’10 came along, and I realized that there was a lot more in this world to look up to. Since then, I have not just indulged myself with the awesomeness of MUN’s but also have made others join in – the more, the merrier.
As the Chair of ECOSOC, I will be looking forward to delegates having extensive research in terms of not only social problems but coming on grounds with the financial aspects behind them. Considering myself as a proactive-monotony-hater, I would expect a lot of energy and wide horizons of ideas from my delegates and I really hope that all my delegates would come prepared to engage in passionate debating sessions and will be psyched to rock the social events as well.
P.S For those who believe that having a stack of research papers will get them there way, trust me, it won’t.
So, delegates, get ready to shake and save the world.

SPECPOL:
Ambreen Ashraf
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all Bahrians to the first ever Bahria University Model United Nations 2012!
My name is Ambreen Ashraf and I will be chairing SPECPOL this year. I am a student of the Institute of Professional Psychology at Bahria University and currently in my sixth semester. I’ve always been passionate about public speaking, but the same old parliamentary and declamation competitions became too monotonous for me, and that’s when I discovered the world of Model United Nations. I’ve won all the conferences I attended, including my first ever Model United Nations at IBA, and since then I’ve wanted to share my love of MUNning with students of my own university.
This year, all Bahrians have a prime opportunity to participate in their very own MUN, and to experience first-hand what it’s like. The topics I’ve chosen are very relevant and a concern for every citizen in the contemporary world, and I hope you will research thoroughly before appearing in the committee sessions.
What I expect from delegates: Researching thoroughly about your country’s stance on BOTH topics is mandatory; researching about your allies’ and opponents’ stances is an added advantage; using Wikipedia as a source of information is equal to suicide in the committee. Trust me, I will not spare you.
Have fun, delegates!
Ambreen Ashraf
P.S. Many of you wonder how to differentiate me from my fellow Committee Chair, Yusra Kamdar (who also dons a veil). I’m the one with the black-and-colored dupatta, if that helps!

IAEA:
Yusra Kamdar
“So I ask the Nuclear Powers to abandon the out-of-date thinking of the Cold War period and take a fresh look. Overall, I appeal to them to bear in mind the long-term threat the nuclear weapons pose to humankind and begin action towards their elimination”. –Joseph Rotblat

Assalamualaikum Delegates!
Welcome to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
IAEA is the most sought after committee these days considering Iran’s nuclear program, the risk of Nuclear Proliferation and the need for new sources of energy.
My name is Yusra Kamdar and I will be chairing the IAEA committee in the first ever Bahria University Model United Nations 2012. Model United Nations became my passion ever since I was introduced to it as the Delegate of Tajikistan in MUNIK. I represented the State of Serbia at CBMUN 2011 and won the Best Delegate Award and ever since, my dedication and enthusiasm for MUN has inspired me to work towards bringing this amazing experience to Bahrians.
International Atomic Energy Agency was formed to eliminate the threat of proliferation which nuclear energy posed, to provide safety nets and assistance in the transformation of nuclear power for peaceful purposes. In IAEA we shall be discussing the Nuclear program of Iran, the threat of nuclear proliferation by countries with internal conflicts, the use of nuclear power for electricity generation and for medical advancement, the establishment of a nuclear fuel bank and the ‘most sinned against-Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty’.
So gear up delegates for three days of debate and fun filled activities!

Looking forward to see you all in BUMUN.
